Central Oklahoma Ballet will hold auditions for their 2023 production of The Nutcracker on Sunday, Aug. 27, 2023. Ages 7 to 12 will audition from 2 to 2:45 p.m. and ages 13 and up will audition from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Auditioning dancers must be currently attending a ballet technique class twice a week minimum. Auditions will be held at the Doran-Vossen School of Dance, 519 Maple, Yukon, OK 73099. Dancers must bring a photograph of themselves. Dancers should arrive at the studio 20 minutes before auditions dressed in proper attire for a ballet class; black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, and hair in a bun for girls; white tee shirts, black tights, and ballet shoes for boys. The audition fee is $10.

The Central Oklahoma Ballet Company consists of dancers from towns throughout central Oklahoma. For the past 25 seasons Central Oklahoma Ballet Company has staged this major production involving both national and international guest artists from major dance companies. This year's performance will be accompanied by the Oklahoma Community Orchestra, conducted by Irv Wagner. The performances are publicized throughout central Oklahoma and attract a regional audience.

Nutcracker performance dates are Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023. The Central Oklahoma Ballet production of The Nutcracker is supported by Oklahoma Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Kerr Foundation, and various corporate and individual donors.
